At least two people were killed Sunday morning at a fiery, single-vehicle crash on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Boyle Heights, authorities said.
The crash occurred at about 2:45 a.m. on the northbound freeway near the Calzona Street off-ramp, where a black SUV struck the right shoulder wall and then caught fire, the California Highway Patrol reported.
At least two people were pronounced dead at the scene and third may be in grave condition at a hospital, the CHP said.
A representative from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office was called to the location at 3:14 a.m.
A Sigalert, issued at 3:04 a.m. closing the Calzona Street off-ramp for at least three hours, was canceled at 7:47 a.m.
No further information was immediately available.
