A hiker was in critical condition Saturday after being rescued from a trail in Palm Desert, the Riverside County Fire Department announced.
Firefighters responded to a report of an inaccessible rescue around 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the Homestead Hiking Trail.
The department said the hiker had a medical emergency approximately a quarter-mile up the trail. After firefighters made access to the location, the hiker was airlifted and rushed to a hospital by ground ambulance.
