Two people were killed Saturday in a single-vehicle crash in Montebello, authorities said.

The crash occurred a little before 7 a.m. at the Slauson Avenue off-ramp to the southbound Santa Ana (5) Freeway, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The accident involved a tan sedan that was stopped on the right shoulder at the off-ramp, the CHP said.

Two people were pronounced dead at the scene.

Paramedics from the Los Angeles County Fire Department were dispatched to the scene at 7:44 a.m. but did not transport anyone to a hospital, a county fire department dispatcher said.

A Sigalert was issued at 8:08 a.m. closing the Slauson Avenue on-ramp to the southbound freeway for an unknown duration, the CHP said.

No further information was immediately available.
