Firefighters battled a two-acre brush fire in Thermal Sunday.

The fire was reported around 12:35 p.m. Sunday in the 56000 block of Harrison Street, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. Flames were affecting two acres of vegetation and palm trees.

Firefighters stopped the forward progress of the fire around 2 p.m., and said they would remain on the scene for about six hour for mop-up.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

No injuries or evacuations were reported.
