A fire alarm activation in a Moreno Valley apartment Tuesday set off the fire suppression sprinkler system, flooding the unit and displacing its four occupants.
The alarm was reported at 11:32 a.m. at the Fresco Apartments in the 12600 block of Memorial Way, near the Towngate Shopping Center, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said that multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered water throughout the lower floor unit, but no active fire.
It was not immediately clear what triggered the alarm and suppression system.
No one was injured.
Water damage to the apartment was extensive, making the residence uninhabitable. Three men and a woman were displaced, according to officials.
Red Cross personnel were requested to assist the victims with finding temporary alternate lodgings.
