An 88-year-old man who authorities said has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease was reported missing Monday evening after last being seen in Playa del Rey.

Fazlollah Elahi was last seen at 3 p.m. Monday in the 100 block of 63rd Avenue near Pacific Avenue and the nearby Del Rey Lagoon. Elahi was accompanied by his wife Lucy, who had parked their white 2003 Toyota Prius with a California license plate 5AWP524 at the location, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

While she took their dog for a walk around the lagoon, Elahi stayed behind in the vehicle. When she returned approximately 40 minutes later, she discovered that her husband and the car were missing.

Elahi’s family is concerned because he did not take his daily Alzheimer’s medication, police said. He was last seen wearing a black hat, plaid jacket, a black long-sleeve shirt and blue sweatpants.

Authorities said Elahi wears a bracelet that list his Alzheimer’s diagnosis and his contact information.
