The Riverside County Department of Waste Resources will host a free hazardous waste collection event Saturday in Idyllwild.
Riverside County residents can dispose of their residentially generated hazardous waste from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the County Road Yard, 25780 Johnson Road, according to a department spokesperson. Waste from businesses and nonprofits will not be allowed at the event.
Residents typically take waste such as motor oil, paint, antifreeze, household and automotive batteries, pesticides, cleaning products and more.
Items such as explosives, radioactive material, ammunition, asbestos, compressed-gas cylinders more than 40 pounds or infectious or medical waste will not be accepted.
For more information, residents can contact the Riverside County Department of Waste Resources at 951-486-3200 or 800-304-2226, or go to www.rcwaste.org/hhw.
