A 40-year-old Mecca resident who was killed in a single-vehicle accident in Desert Center was identified by authorities Monday.
The fatal crash was reported about 3:30 p.m. Sunday on the westbound 10 Freeway just east of Hayfield Road at mile marker 91, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The vehicle dropped from 80 to 100 feet from a dirt embankment.
The victim was identified as Sergio Guzman Ramirez, who died at the scene, according to the CHP.
Several lanes on the 10 Freeway were temporarily blocked to handle the investigation. All lanes were later cleared.
