Firefighters from the Riverside Fire Department extinguished a 1-acre brush fire in Riverside Tuesday.
The fire was reported at midnight in Sycamore Canyon Park near Sycamore Canyon Boulevard and Cottonwood Avenue.
Responding firefighters found the brush fire burning at a slow rate of spread and began an aggressive attack on the fire, which was contained to an acre within an hour.
According to the fire department, the fire started at a homeless encampment from an unattended campfire.
No injuries were reported.
