A large truck carrying boxes of kitchen cabinets caught fire on the I-10 freeway Friday.

The incident was first reported at 7:55 a.m. Friday, according to California Highway Patrol traffic incident page. The tractor-trailer pulled over to the right-hand shoulder of the eastbound I-10 freeway near mile marker 125, “fully engulfed” in black smoke.

Assistance from Cal Fire was requested shortly after.

The tractor was fully burned, according to CHP records, while the trailer was only half-burned. Officials were not able to estimate the weight or amount of boxes inside.

Information about the nature of any injuries was not immediately known.
