Crews battled vegetation fires in three small spots in Anza, eventually containing the flames, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

A fire was reported at 7:44 p.m. Saturday on Highway 74, south of Belvedere Road. The first arriving firefighters found a quarter-acre involved in fire and a separate, half-acre spot involved in fire with heavy brush, fire officials said.

The fire then spread uphill and had burned approximately four acres Saturday night, but its forward progress was stopped, the department said.

No injuries or structure damage were reported.

The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.
