Rep. Michelle Steel’s lead over Democratic challenger Derek Tran shrank to 236 votes Thursday, six days after leading by 7,590 votes in the 45th Congressional District.

Steel’s lead was 349 votes Wednesday.

Steel, R-Seal Beach, led by 7,590 votes after Friday’s count, 6,901 after Saturday’s, 6,128 after Sunday when only ballots from the Los Angeles County portion of the district were counted, 3,908 after Monday’s and 2,227 after Tuesday’s, according to the Secretary of State’s Office.

Steel leads 152,021-151,785. She leads 137,429-133,033, 50.81%-49.19% in Orange County, but trails in Los Angeles County 18,752-14,592, 56.24%-43.76%.

It is not known how many ballots remain to be counted.
