A pedestrian trying to run across the eastbound Pomona (60) Freeway near Boyle Heights was struck and killed by a vehicle Wednesday evening.

The collision was reported at 9:58 p.m. Wednesday and California Highway Patrol officers responded to the freeway near Lorena Street, where they learned the pedestrian was struck in one of the freeway’s middle lanes, CHP Officer Sean Lough told City News Service.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, Lough said.

A SigAlert was issued for the closure off all eastbound lanes of the freeway in the vicinity of the collision while CHP officers conducted an investigation.
