An investigation was continuing Monday into a near mishap at Los Angeles International Airport that saw a charter plane — carrying the Gonzaga University men’s basketball team — nearly encroach on a runway into the path of a departing passenger plane.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the charter plane operated by Key Lime Air had just landed from Spokane, Washington, and was taxiing toward a gate when it was instructed to stop to allow a Delta Air Lines plane to take off.

The charter plane, however, rolled forward beyond the point where it was directed to hold, prompting an air traffic controller to repeatedly shout “stop” to the pilot, according to video and audio that was posted online by Airline Videos Live and captured the encounter.

The plane came to a stop, and never actually encroached on the runway. The Delta flight took off without incident.

The Gonzaza basketball team lost to UCLA 65-52 on Saturday at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood.
