Mt. San Jacinto Community College Temecula Valley campus was recently given a Center Status designation by the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges, securing $2.2 million in annual basic apportionment funding.
MSJC announced in a news release Thursday that its nearly 4,000 full-time students will witness a higher investments to their future and to community engagement.
“This is a historical moment for Mt. San Jacinto College and our Temecula Valley Campus,” said Dr. Roger Schultz, MSJC superintendent and president. “The Board’s unanimous approval recognizes the incredible growth and impact of this campus in addressing the educational needs of our community. At MSJC, we are committed to taking our educational offering to where our students are — physically in the heart of our population district — and providing them with the resources they need to succeed. This additional funding will enable us to expand access, enhance student success and strengthen our role as a vital regional resource.”
Schultz expressed his gratitude and attributed much of the success of the designation to Dr. Carlos Tovares, dean of Institutional Effectiveness.
“Dr.Tovare’s expertise and dedication were critical in achieving this milestone,” Shultz said. “His work ensures that MSJC continues to deliver exceptional opportunities to our students and community.”
The Temecula Valley campus was purchased in 2017 for $55 million through Measure AA, and opened in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.
