A 25-year-old man who was killed in a vehicle collision in Whitewater that also left three other people injured has been identified by authorities.
The California Highway Patrol was notified of a report of a driver traveling in the wrong direction on Interstate 10 shortly after 2:30 a.m. Friday. The crashed occurred a few minutes later near the Whitewater Rest Area.
Two of the three injured victims were taken to Desert Regional Medical Center with major injuries, according to CHP records.
The Riverside County coroner’s office identified the deceased victim Friday as Kenneth Montenegro of Palm Springs, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
No further information was immediately available.
