A semi-truck fire on a freeway that spread to nearby vegetation in Sunland was knocked down Sunday.
The front wheel of a big rig was reported to be on fire around 2:20 p.m. Sunday on the westbound Foothill (210) Freeway near Sunland Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The flames spread to nearby vegetation but were quickly doused, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
With help from the Glendale and Los Angeles County fire departments, LAFD personnel knocked down the flames affecting an attached trailer with undetermined cargo.
Authorities say the driver exited the vehicle prior to crews’ arrival and declined medical help.
No other injuries were reported.
Some lanes on the freeway were expected to be temporarily closed for cleanup operations and a CHP investigation.
