Palm Springs officials, in partnership with the city’s Chamber of Commerce, will host a tech conference on the impacts of artificial intelligence in the community later this month.

The AI and Creativity Expo will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. on June 23 at the Palm Springs Convention Center, located at 277 N. Avenida Caballeros.

The inaugural event will feature exhibits with AI tools, a workshop led by College of the Desert Students and panel discussions with keynote speakers, including “The Future is Now: AI and the Human Experience” with writer Baratunde Thurston, and “AI and the Creative Spark” with “Lion King” co-director Rob Minkoff.

The objective for the expo will be to inform about AI and its ethical considerations and to demonstrate the real-world applications to residents and businesses, organizers said.

Students who have completed the sixth grade and are up to 18 years old can enter for free with a valid student ID.

Tickets for the event can be found at pschamber.org/aiexpo.
