Two more racehorses died at Los Alamitos Race Course over the weekend, state horse racing officials reported Tuesday.
Mr. Dreamcycle, a 4-year-old gelding, was bumped at the start of Saturday’s second race, took a “bad step” at the 7/16 mark and was taken off in an ambulance, according to the official race chart.
His death is listed as musculoskeletal on the California Horse Racing Board website, but no further information was immediately available.
The 3-year-old filly Expect Love died after suffering a training injury on Sunday, according to the CHRB. Her last race was June 20 at Los Alamitos.
Ten horses have now died from racing or training injuries at the Cypress track this year.
