An 18-year-old woman killed in a two-vehicle crash near Palmdale was publicly identified Saturday.
Bryac Cole died from blunt-force trauma at a hospital from an accident, the Medical Examiner’s office reported.
The crash occurred about 8:45 p.m. July 19 at Elizabeth Lake Road and 15th Street West in the unincorporated Desert View Highlands area, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Investigators said Cole and an 18-year-old man whose name has not yet been released were passengers in a 2023 Toyota driven by a 17-year-old Palmdale boy and apparently not wearing seat belts.
The Toyota was westbound on Elizabeth Lake Road and made a left turn into the path of an eastbound 2018 Subaru driven by a 19-year-old Palmdale woman, resulting in a broadside collision, according to the CHP.
Two of the Toyota’s unrestrained passengers — the 18-year-old man and the woman now identified as Cole were pronounced dead at a hospital, the CHP said.
Two other unbelted passengers — a 17-year-old girl and an 18-year-old woman, both from Palmdale — suffered major injuries and were transported to Antelope Valley Medical Center, authorities said.
The Toyota driver, who was wearing a seat belt, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Palmdale Regional Medical Center. The Subaru driver, who was also restrained, had minor injuries but did not require hospitalization, according to the CHP.
Neither alcohol nor drugs were considered factors in the crash, according to the CHP.
