A former employee of Floyd Mayweather’s Hollywood gym sued the establishment Tuesday for alleged state Labor Code violations, including failure to pay monies owed to discharged employees as well as those who voluntarily quit.
Joseph Sims’ Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit also contends that workers were not compensated for missed meal and rest breaks, that they were not provided accurate wage statements and that the gym failed to reimburse them for all out-of-pocket business expenses.
Sims seeks payment for all monies allegedly owed, with interest, plus restitution and punitive damages. A representative for the Highland Avenue gym did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
Sims was hired as a fitness employee in November 2021 and worked three days a week comprising eight hours daily at a wage of $20 per hour. He maintains he was not provided all of his meal and rest breaks and was not paid for those that he missed, or for his business-related expenses.
“The materials, supplies and other items that plaintiff purchased were necessary for the discharge of his duties,” according to the suit.
The gym failed to pay Sims, who left his employment with the facility in January 2025, money owed him as required by the Labor Code, the suit alleges.
