Seven people were injured Thursday in a trio of vehicle collisions on eastbound Interstate 10 in Cabazon.

The initial collision was reported shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday east of the Main Street on-ramp, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

According to California Highway Patrol Officer Ricardo Palomera, CHP officers arrived at the scene and encountered an overturned vehicle that had landed near the train tracks, which resulted in a “major injury.”

Officers also encountered in the same area a two-vehicle crash with no injuries reported, and a separate two-vehicle collision with minor injuries involved.

The circumstances behind the collisions were not immediately available. It was unclear if there was any relationship between the crashes.

Two people with serious injuries and three people with minor injuries were taken to local hospitals, the fire department reported. Two others with minor injuries refused medical treatment.

The nos. 1 and 3 lanes were open, Palomera said.

The cause of the collisions were under investigation.
