Two people were killed in a head-on collision in Acton Tuesday.
Officers responded around 6:20 a.m. Tuesday, near Sierra Highway, just south of Crown Valley Road, to reports of a severe collision, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A black Infiniti Q50 that was driven by a 22-year-old man from Canyon Country was traveling on Sierra Highway moments before he lost control for reasons still under investigation, crossing into oncoming traffic, and colliding head-on with a blue Honda Odyssey driven by a 57-year-old man identified as S. Hernandez-Trinidad of Santa Clarita.
The driver and front passenger of the Infiniti were pronounced dead at the scene, while a rear passenger, 22-year-old G. Gonzalez of Canyon County, was taken to a hospital for critical but unspecified injuries.
Detectives determined after further investigation that the driver of the Infiniti and the front passenger were not wearing seat belts at the time of the collision, and that the driver of the Honda was also taken to a hospital for severe but undisclosed injuries.
The names of the driver and front passenger were being withheld pending notification of relatives.
Toxicology results are pending as detectives continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the collision.
Anyone with information regarding the fatal collision was urged to call CHP Antelope Valley Area Officer D. Morales at 661-743-6060. Calls during non-business hours should be made to the Los Angeles Traffic Management Center at 323-259-3200.
