The 14th annual Pink on Parade breast cancer awareness walk was scheduled to take place next month, the Riverside Community Health Foundation announced.

The walk was scheduled at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18 at the Ryan Bonaminio Park located at 5000 Tequesquite Ave. in Riverside where over 1,000 participants were expected to gather to support The Pink Ribbon Place, Riverside’s resource center for individuals and families impacted by breast cancer.

The Pink on Parade is a movement to raise awareness and funds for The Pink Ribbon Place’s services, which include support groups, counseling, a product bank and one-on-one guidance from health education navigators provided at no cost. The resources are offered to patients, survivors, families and friends navigating a diagnosis with cancer.

“For me, The Pink Ribbon Place is a very special place,” said Bertha Sandoval, a 25-year breast cancer survivor and longtime volunteer. ”Here, I feel understood, surrounded by women who have gone through similar experiences and who truly understand what it means to fight and keep going.”

“Being involved gives me the opportunity to share my story, bring hope to women just beginning their journey, and remind them that we are not alone. The Pink Ribbon Place is a space of strength, support, and celebration of life,” Sandoval added.

The event will include a walk up Mt. Rubidoux and around the Ryan Bonaminio Park as well as a symbolic dove release, a classic car show, and multiple food and merchandise vendors are scheduled to attend.

All ages and pets are welcome and guests were encouraged to wear pink and show their support in creative and spirited ways.
