The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County rose 1.6 cents Sunday to $4.628, two days after rising 7.6 cents for its largest increase since Sept. 29, 2023.

“Oil Price Information Service reports that wholesale prices are up double digits this week due to some planned and unplanned refinery maintenance and stronger futures expectations for gas prices,” Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager, said in a statement released Thursday.

The Riverside County average price increased 2.1 cents Saturday, and eight-tenths of a cent Thursday. Prior to that, it had decreased eight times in the previous nine days.

The average price is 10 cents more than one week ago, 2.4 cents more than one month ago and 25.1 cents more than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped $1.745 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5, 2022.
