Firefighters from the Riverside Fire Department extinguished a fire near the Santa Ana River bottom Saturday.
The fire was reported around 12:20 p.m. Saturday in the Santa Ana River bottom around Van Buren Boulevard and the bridge, according to the fire department.
Responding crews found it burning in less than one quarter acre of heavy vegetation.
“Crews made access to the fire from hiking in from the animal shelter on the Riverside County side,” the fire department announced.
“The fire was determined to be in the City of Riverside jurisdiction and fire crews utilized portable water pumps and hand tools to control and contain the fire to approximately a 50′ X 50′ spot of vegetation.”
No injuries or property damage were reported.
The fire was extinguished just after 1 p.m.
