The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Thursday for the 12th time in 13 days, falling 1.9 cents to $4.573.

The average price has dropped 15.6 cents over the past 13 days, including 1.7 cents Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It decreased nine consecutive days, was unchanged Monday and resumed dropping Tuesday.

The average price is 9.4 cents less than one week ago and 30.2 cents lower than one month ago, but 17.7 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped $1.921 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price dropped for the 17th time in 18 days, falling 2.8 cents to $4.472. It has dropped 24.3 cents over the past 18 days, including 2.2 cents Wednesday.

The average price dropped five consecutive days, rose a half-cent Nov. 29 and resumed decreasing Nov. 30. The run began one day after the end of a 12-day streak of decreases totaling 13.9 cents.

The Orange County average price is 11.3 cents less than one week ago and 36.1 cents lower than one month ago, but 15.1 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped $1.987 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The run of 19 decreases in 20 days to the national average price totaling 16 cents ended on Thursday when it was unchanged, remaining at $2.94. It dropped 12 consecutive days, rose one-tenth of a cent Dec. 3, then resumed decreasing last Thursday.

The national average price is 5.1 cents less than one week ago, 13.2 cents lower than one month ago and 8 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $2.076 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
