A rock slide amid heavy downpours near Lake Mathews Wednesday prompted partial closure of a roadway.
According to the California Highway Patrol, at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, motorists called 911 stating “large rocks” had rolled onto the southbound side of La Sierra Avenue, near Lake Crest Drive, in the unincorporated community of El Sobrante.
There were no reports of injuries or damage to vehicles.
A Riverside County Transportation Department crew was sent to the location to shut down the lane pending cleanup just before 4 p.m.
