Eight people were rushed to a hospital after a multi-vehicle crash in Beaumont Thursday, the Riverside County Fire Department announced.

The crash was reported shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday in the 16400 block of Lamb Canyon Road and Dump Road, near the Lamb Canyon Landfill.

Responding firefighters found a person who needed extrication and requested additional equipment, according to the department.

A second crash happened behind the original crash, authorities said, leaving a total of eight people injured. One person was listed in critical condition, one had moderate injuries, five had minor injuries and one chose to leave hospital care against medical advice, the fire department said.

It was unclear how many vehicles were involved in the crash.

Fire officials said lanes were being opened up and the California Highway Patrol’s Inland Division was at the scene to assist with traffic.
