One person was killed Thursday in a multi-vehicle crash on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway in West Covina.
The crash was reported at 6:34 p.m. Thursday on the westbound freeway east of Sunset Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
One witness told the CHP the driver of a dark sedan lost control and hit the center divider then swerved to the right shoulder. Another witness said three vehicles were involved in the crash with two coming to rest in the slow lane and one on the gore point.
One witness reported smoke was coming from one vehicle and the driver was not moving.
Personnel from the Los Angeles County’s coroner’s office were summoned to the scene at about 7:15 p.m.
A Sigalert was issued at about 7 p.m. shutting down lanes 3 and 4. It was canceled at 9:36 p.m.
