A person was discovered dead following the knockdown of a fire at a single-story convenience store in the Carthay neighborhood of Los Angeles.
Firefighters responded shortly before 5:50 p.m. Tuesday to the 1000 block of South Fairfax Avenue, one block south of Olympic and San Vicente boulevards, to reports of a fire in an alley that was exposing a 7-Eleven store, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz.
Following the knockdown of the fire, an unidentified victim was found dead in the alley.
Lantz said details about the victim and injuries sustained remain limited.
Los Angeles Police Department detectives and LAFD Arson crews were dispatched to the location to assist with the investigation.
