A hiker was rescued Thursday after suffering from an unspecified medical emergency at Ladder Canyon Trail near Mecca.
The rescue was reported shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency stated that due to the difficult access, a helicopter manned by the California Highway Patrol was able to find and retrieve the hiker.
The individual, whose description was not provided, was taken to a local hospital by an awaiting ground ambulance.
The severity of the medical emergency was not immediately known.
