The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose Friday to its highest amount since Dec. 6, increasing seven-tenths of a cent to $4.634.

The average price has risen 22 of the past 23 days, increasing 27.7 cents, including eight-tenths of a cent on Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It rose 20 consecutive days, dropped three-tenths of a cent on Wednesday and resumed increasing on Thursday.

The average price is 3.9 cents more than one week ago and 28.3 higher than one month ago but 15.2 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $1.86 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price rose for the 23rd consecutive day, increasing 1 cent to $4.571, its highest amount since Dec. 4. It has risen 32.8 cents during the streak, including 1.3 cents on Thursday.

The Orange County average price is 5.3 cents more than one week ago and 34.3 cents more than one month ago, but 18.6 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $1.888 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

“The gas price increases we have been seeing are typical for this time of year in Southern California as refineries undergo planned and unplanned maintenance while gasoline demand starts increasing, leading to upward price pressure,” Kandace Redd, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s senior public affairs specialist, said in a statement released on Thursday.

The national average price increased for the third consecutive day, rising a half-cent to $2.934. It has increased 1.7 cents after dropping 1.2 cents on Tuesday. It is six-tenths of a cent less than one week ago and 23.1 cents lower than one year ago but 11.2 cents more than one month ago.

The national average price has dropped $2.082 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
