A 33-year-old man was behind bars Wednesday after a violent rampage in Burbank in which he’s accused of attempted carjacking, assaulting officers and elderly civilians, and several other felonies.
Officers responded at about 2 p.m. on Monday to reports of a vehicle intentionally colliding with other vehicles near the 1600 block of North San Fernando Boulevard, according to the Burbank Police Department.
“Witnesses reported that the driver of the white SUV had been driving erratically, weaving through traffic, and intentionally striking multiple vehicles before exiting his car and attempting to carjack at least two occupied vehicles,” police said.
The suspect fled the scene on foot toward several businesses in the 1500 block of North San Fernando Boulevard, where he allegedly threw a chair at a window and entered a separate establishment, assaulting two elderly men who sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
Detectives identified the suspect as Christopher Ghazarian, who was located in the parking lot of a strip mall in the 1500 block of North San Fernando Boulevard, where he was allegedly combative and assaulted several officers.
Police said that during the struggle, one of the officers sustained abrasions and a bite injury to the face before Ghazarian was subdued and taken into custody.
Ghazarian was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, attempted carjacking, assault on a police officer, and 13 other felony offenses filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, police said.
Anyone with information regarding the case was urged to contact the Burbank Police Department’s Investigation Division at 818-238-3210.
