Veteran broadcast journalist Karen Devine will receive the 486th star on the Palm Springs Walk of the Stars later this month in the downtown area.
The public ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. March 27 at 112 N. Palm Canyon Drive.
Devine will receive the star in the humanitarian and entertainment categories for her career as an evening anchor and investigative reporter and for her support of several organizations.
She began her career in 1992 working for NBC Palm Springs, where she spent 17 years before joining KESQ News Channel 3 in 2009, officials said.
Devine earned multiple Emmy Awards, two regional Edward R. Murrow Awards and Golden Mike Awards. She received the Athena Award from the city’s Chamber of Commerce, was inducted into the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Silver Circle, was inducted into the Coachella Valley Media Hall of Fame and was named “Woman of the Year” by Assemblyman Chad Myers in 2019.
Devine has emceed dozens of nonprofit fundraisers and has supported numerous organizations, including the American Cancer Society, Palm Springs Women in Film and Television, The Girlfriend Factor and Loma Linda Children’s Center.
Since the 1990s, she has been a La Quinta resident and raised her family in the Coachella Valley.
