A 58-year-old man and his 55-year-old wife who were discovered dead in Porter Ranch in a suspected murder-suicide investigation were identified Wednesday.

Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Devonshire Community Police Station responded at 9:21 p.m. Monday to 20704 Como Lane, near Rinaldi Street and the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway, where a neighbor reported victims with gunshots wounds, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.

Both the man and woman were pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.

They were identified Wednesday by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner as Zaven Shahverdi, who sustained a gunshot wound to the head, and Melina Avanosian, who also sustained a gunshot wound to the head.

Police said they found a gun at the scene and the case is being investigated as a murder-suicide.

According to a broadcast report, the bodies were found by the couple’s son.
