A Moreno Valley Unified School District employee was in custody Saturday after authorities allegedly found over $750,000 worth of stolen equipment from a school in his possession.

Personnel from the Moreno Valley station assigned as school resource deputies for the district began investigating a report of missing laptops from a school earlier this month, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

During the investigation, 69-year-old Abdul Kamara was identified as the suspect, and deputies served a search warrant in the 26000 block of Regency Way in Moreno Valley on Thursday.

They allegedly recovered stolen laptops, different types of electronic devices and thousands of various pieces of equipment and technology estimated to be worth over $750,000.

Kamara was subsequently arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center where he was being held on a $250,000 bail on suspicion of grand theft.

Anyone with additional information about the case was encouraged to contact the Moreno Valley sheriff’s station at 951-486-6700.
