Authorities Tuesday released the name of a 14-year-old boy who was killed in a crash on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Burbank.
Mateo Navarro Cruz of Pacoima died at the scene of the crash on the northbound side of the freeway just south of Burbank Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office.
California Highway Patrol officers were called at 3:40 a.m. Monday to the scene of the collision, which involved a dark-colored sedan that crashed into a guard rail, a CHP spokesman told City News Service.
A SigAlert was issued for the closure of the northbound side of the freeway for several hours.
