A fire in the attic of a Moreno Valley house Saturday caused enough damage to displace a dozen residents and pets.
The fire was reported at 5:16 p.m. Saturday in the 24200 block of Via Vargas Drive, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The fire was out just after 6 p.m., fire officials said.
Firefighters called SoCal Gas and Southern California Edison to the scene to deal with utilities and the American Red Cross to help find housing for two adults, four children and six dogs, officials said.
Patients were assessed for injuries at the scene and declined to be treated there or taken to a hospital, officials said.
