Riverside County firefighters were working Sunday to put out a five-acre brushfire south of Nuevo.
The fire was reported at 8:19 p.m. Sunday in the hills near Gibson Avenue and Nuevo Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The flames were said to be burning at a moderate rate in light to medium fuels, fire officials said.
Additional engines were requested due to challenging access, the officials said.
The Watch Duty app reported at 9:15 p.m. that a night-flying helicopter was requested due to the potential for the fire to grow significantly and endanger lives.
