Four people were injured, including three with major injuries, when their vehicle crashed into a fire hydrant Sunday morning in Moreno Valley, authorities said.

Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched at 5:38 a.m. to the area of Perris Boulevard and San Michele Road, the Riverside County Fire Department reported.

“Four patients were extricated and transported to local trauma centers,” according to a news statement. “Three patients sustained major injuries and one patient sustained moderate injuries.”

Southbound Perris Boulevard and San Michele Road were expected to be closed for several hours, the statement said.

There was no other immediate information available.
