A brush fire that threatened structures and prompted an evacuation warning in a remote area of Los Angeles County west of Lancaster drew a large air and ground response Wednesday.
The fire was reported around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday in the area of 265th Street West and Avenue B 8 in Neenach, along state Route 138 near the Kern County line, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Five air units were dispatched to help battle the fire, which was reported to have quickly grown from about 2 to 20 and then 80 to 100 acres 45 minutes after it was first reported.
The fire went to a second alarm just after 10 a.m.
Structures were threatened and evacuation warnings and orders were issued as crews worked to get a handle on the blaze.
By about 10:50 a.m., crews had halted the fire’s spread, after it burned an estimated 98 acres of brush, authorities said.
