A person was killed and another person was injured in a vehicle crash Sunday allegedly triggered by a wrong-way driver on the Harbor (110) Freeway in South Los Angeles, authorities said.

The crash occurred at about 10:15 a.m. Sunday on the southbound freeway at West Slauson Avenue, the California Highway Patrol reported.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Paramedics rushed another person to a hospital, the CHP said. That person’s condition was not immediately known.

A silver Honda Civic was going northbound in the southbound lanes and allegedly struck a gray Nissan Murano, the CHP said.

All traffic was diverted off the southbound freeway at Vernon Avenue at 10:24 a.m. A Sigalert was issued at 10:53 a.m. closing all southbound lanes just south of Vernon Avenue.
