Firefighters Monday battled a big rig fire in Castaic that spread to nearby brush, burned approximately 19 acres and prompted evacuation warnings.
The fire was reported at approximately 4:10 p.m. near the Paradise Ranch Mobile Home Park along the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway. It initially burned about 15 acres at a moderate rate of spread, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
By about 5:25 p.m., the fire had grown to approximately 19 acres, according to Cal Fire.
