More than 3,000 Southern California Edison customers in Desert Hot Springs were without power Friday while facing extreme heat in the Coachella Valley.
According to the SCE website, 4,935 customers were impacted by the outage reported at 1:33 p.m. Friday near Bubbling Wells Road east of Yerxa Road, with no indication of when power will be restored.
An agency spokesperson told City News Service that the “priority is safely restoring power.”
As of 5 p.m., roughly 3,700 customers remain without power.
The cause of the shortage was not immediately available.
