A motorcyclist was seriously injured Monday in a collision with a minivan on the south end of Homeland.
The crash was reported at 4:22 p.m. Monday in the 31500 block of McWade Ave., near Ritter Avenue, about a quarter mile south of Highway 74, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The agency said the Dodge van and motorcycle impacted, hurling the rider into the middle of the roadway.
The van driver, who wasn’t hurt and not identified, did not flee.
Riverside County Fire Department paramedics reached the location within a few minutes and found the rider, whose identity was not disclosed, in cardiac arrest. Personnel initiated resuscitative measures, reviving the man, according to reports from the scene.
He was taken to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley in critical condition.
The CHP said a handgun was found in the road, apparently belonging to the victim. Officers took possession of it.
The van driver was detained for questioning as the investigation got underway Monday afternoon.

You know there is no reason at all that a gun was found ! That has nothing to do with the accident!
Fuck u linscotts scanless tweakers
I would like to respectfully ask why it was considered necessary to mention that a firearm was found at the scene of today’s fatal traffic collision.
A young man tragically lost his life in an automobile accident, and at this time there has been no indication that the firearm played any role in the collision or that it was used in the commission of any crime. Including that detail without clear relevance may unintentionally shift the focus away from the real tragedy—the loss of a human life—and could lead to unnecessary speculation or unfair assumptions.
Out of respect for the deceased, his loved ones, and the facts as they are currently known, I hope we can allow the focus to remain on the heartbreaking loss and avoid drawing conclusions based on information that may ultimately have no connection to the accident.
My sincere condolences go out to the victim’s family, friends, and everyone affected by this tragic event.
I agree with Luana Grafton. Hoe does the handgun come into play? Nine out of ten times it’s the person in the car at fault because they don’t watch out for people on motorcycles. My condolences to the family of this young man. I’m so sorry for your loss.
