Crews replaced a broken 8-inch cast-iron water main Sunday after the rupture flooded an area of the Beverly Grove neighborhood, disrupted water service and prompted a partial closure of part of San Vicente Boulevard.
The break was reported at 4:48 a.m. Sunday near San Vicente and Lyndenhurst Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
LADWP spokeswoman Leah McKenzie told City News Service that crews replaced the damaged section of pipe shortly after 3 p.m. but an estimated time for restoring water service was not immediately available.
McKenzie said the break affected 11 service connections, with each connection capable of serving multiple customers. She did not say how many customers were without water.
San Vicente remained closed between Lyndenhurst and Orlando avenues while crews completed repairs.
There were no reports of property damage. The cause of the water main break remained under investigation.
