The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Friday for the fourth consecutive day, decreasing nine-tenths of a cent to $5.671.
The average price has fallen 4.3 cents over the past four days, including 1.5 cents Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 3.5 cents less than one week ago but 28.5 cents more than one month ago and $1.205 higher than one year ago.
The average price has increased 97.7 cents since the start of the joint U.S./Israel attack on Iran on Feb. 28, which sent oil prices higher and drastically accelerated increases at the gas pump.
The Orange County average price also dropped for the fourth consecutive day, decreasing 1.1 cents to $5.614. It has dropped 5.4 cents over the past four days, including 2 cents Thursday.
The Orange County average price is 5 cents less than one week ago but 34.7 cents more than one month ago and $1.203 higher than one year ago. It has increased 97.9 cents since the attack on Iran.
“Oil prices are now below $82 a barrel and that has helped to push down prices at the pump,” Kandace Redd, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s senior public affairs specialist, said in a statement released Thursday.
“It appears the downward price trend could continue in coming days if oil prices stay lower and supply remains steady.”
The national average price recorded its largest decrease since June 27, dropping 2.1 cents to $4.042. It has fallen seven consecutive days, decreasing 6.4 cents, including 1.7 cents Thursday.
The national average price is 25.2 cents more than one month ago and 87.6 cents higher than one year ago. It has increased $1.06 since the attack on Iran.
