Caltrans work will prompt overnight lane closures and parking restrictions beginning Saturday for a pavement rehabilitation project along state Route 2 in West Los Angeles, Hollywood and Echo Park.

Part of a $70.2 million improvement project, the work will take place from Saturday though next Friday on three segments along state Route 2: the Santa Monica Boulevard portion from Federal to Cotner avenues in the Sawtelle District of West L.A.; Santa Monica Boulevard between Wilcox and El Centro avenues in Hollywood; and Alvarado Street near Montana Street in Echo Park, according to Caltrans.

Closures are scheduled as follows:

— Up to two lanes of eastbound and westbound Santa Monica Boulevard will be closed between Federal and Cotner avenues nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, with no parking allowed in either direction of the boulevard;

— One eastbound and up to two westbound lanes of Santa Monica Boulevard will be closed between Wilcox and El Centro avenues; and

— Northbound Alvarado Street and Glendale Boulevard will be reduced to one lane near Montana Street on Alvarado, and near Berkeley Avenue on Glendale between 9 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday for bus pad replacement. No parking will be allowed in either direction along Alvarado Street and Glendale Boulevard in those areas.

Signs will be posted in advance of parking restrictions.

“During lane closures, driveways to businesses will remain accessible,” according to Caltrans. “Motorists and community members may expect shoulder and parking restrictions during construction work on state Route 2 in both directions.”

The multimodal project is happening along state Route 2 from Centinela Avenue in Santa Monica to the terminus in Echo Park.

“Once complete, the project will extend the pavement life and enhance safety along multiple segments of SR-2 in the city of Los Angeles,” according to Caltrans.

Due to weather or operational reasons, the schedule is subject to change including the times and dates, the number of closures and other details. Residents and businesses located near construction may experience noise, vibrations and dust associated with construction activities.
