A 56-year-old man who was killed in a motorcycle crash on a freeway transition road in Pomona was identified by county authorities Friday.

The crash was reported at 6:29 a.m. Thursday on the transition road from the westbound Pomona (60) Freeway to the southbound Chino Valley (71) Freeway in the Phillips Ranch section of Pomona, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Jerry Garcia suffered blunt trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

Garcia’s place of residence was not immediately available.

The transition road was shut down and a SigAlert was issued following the crash. All lanes were reopened about 11 a.m. Thursday, according to the CHP.
